Charles H. Breese, 92, of Springfield, passed away on May 10, 2018 at his residence. He was born on December 7, 1925 in Fayette County, Illinois to Henry E. and Cora A. Storm Breese. Charles married Betty J. McDonald in Springfield on April 10, 1949 and she survives.
Mr. Breese is also survived by three children: Charles Alan (Glory) Breese of Downey, Idaho, Patricia Louise Chase of Springfield and Kenneth Earl (Patricia) Breese of Weiser, Idaho, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren with one on the way, two sisters: Jean Ackroyd and Iris (Jim) Wasser as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
Charles was a US Navy Veteran serving in World War II and fought in the Battle of Okinawa. While attending college in Los Angeles he was selected as a fraud agent for the IRS and enjoyed a twenty five year career. After retiring from the US Government Charles went to work for several attorneys as an Expert Consultant in defending their clients against the IRS. He was a Life member of the DAV as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus and Christ the King Parish.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30am on Friday May 18, 2018 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry Dr. and a graveside service will follow at 2:00pm at Camp Butler National Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 4:00pm until 7:00pm Thursday May 17, at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road.
