Betty was born in Raleigh on February 23, 1930 at “Old, Old” Rex Hospital. She was a very proud native of Raleigh. She attended Ravenscoft and Broughton High School and moved on to the University of Georgia receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Betty worked at Hudson Belk downtown and at the Raleigh Little Theatre. This is where she met Benjamin Kilgore Gibbs. They married in November of 1969 in Raleigh. Betty enjoyed many forms of artistic endeavors. She was an avid quilter, many forms of needlework, painter, and dabbled with other genres of creativity, including cooking school taught solely in French.
She was preceded in death by her husband Benjamin "Ben" Kilgore Gibbs.
Betty is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Gibbs Savetman, and grandchildren Kayla and Aiden Savetman.
