Beth was born on March 21, 1931 in Amarillo, Texas to John and Willie (Hare) Norman. The family lived in several Panhandle towns before moving to Lubbock in 1944. She attended Carroll Thompson Jr. High School and graduated from Lubbock High School. She attended Texas Tech for three years before marrying her college sweetheart, Phillip Crumpler at the Broadway Church on December 28, 1951.
She and Phil lived in San Diego, California while he was in the Navy and there they had one son, Cliff Allen,. Upon discharge from the Navy in 1954 they returned to Lubbock and had another son, John Sterling.
Beth was a homemaker for the years her boys were small, but accepted a job as secretary at the Broadway Church of Christ in 1966. She held that position for nineteen years. For many years, she taught first and second grade children at Broadway. She taught Ladies Bible classes for many congregations, lectureships at Abilene Christian University and Lubbock Christian University and Teacher Training workshops in several states. Beth later served as Secretary-Treasurer of Pathway Evangelism, Inc., a gospel literature ministry headed by Dr. Joe Barnett.
After a very short retirement, she joined the staff of the Monterey Church of Christ as an administrative assistant for 8-1/2 years. She also worked as a Volunteer with the Covenant Medical Center's Auxiliary. She served on their Auxiliary Board and was President of the organization in 2007-09.
Beth is preceded in death by her husband Phil, a brother, John Norman of Edmond, Oklahoma and a sister, Dorothy J. Brooks of Folsom, California.
She is survived by her sons and daughters in law, Cliff and Mary Kay Crumpler of Ft. Worth, John and Robbi Crumpler of Lubbock; four grandchildren, David and Amanda Crumpler of Ft. Worth; Ryan and Jane Crumpler of Washington DC, Katie Beth and Jonathan Reding of Temple, TX, and Abby Crumpler of Lubbock. She is also survived by six great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11am on May 24th at the Broadway Church of Christ with Dr. Joe Barnett, and Tim Talley presiding. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Pathway Evangelism, Christian Homes of Abilene, or the Children’s Home of Lubbock.
