Edward J. Eagle, Sr., 88, passed away on Thursday, May 10th at his home in Cary, NC with family members by his side. He was born May 19, 1929 in Trenton, NJ to Joseph Sr. and Sophie Eagle. He graduated from high school and then served in the Korean War as a communications director for the US Army. Following his Army service, Ed attended Rider University in NJ with a major in business. He was an active leader in the Boy Scouts of America in NJ. Ed worked as a general manager of purchasing at various companies. After retirement, he and his wife moved to Heritage Pines Adult Community 14 years ago to be near family. In the community, Ed was active in the architectural committee, men’s breakfast committee and enjoyed card night at the clubhouse.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Eugenia (Pieslak) Eagle; his son, Edward Jr. and his wife, Janine of Ridgefield, CT and their son, Ned; his daughter, Patricia Eagle-Dewey and her husband, Ralph Dewey of Apex, NC and their children, Allyson and Austin; as well as many nieces and nephews residing out of state. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Jr. and sister, Dolores (Turner).
Ed was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be remembered for his positive attitude, sense of humor and his unwavering devotion to his family.
A visitation with the family will be on Friday, May 18th at 12:00pm, one hour prior to the funeral mass at 1:00pm at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church on High House Road in Cary. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the American Lung Association for Lung Cancer Research.
