Ruth E. Smigel

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Stanley and Jennie K. (Bigos) Sagan, she was a long time New Bedford resident. She attended school at Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School and was a member of the former Polish National Catholic Church. Ruth loved her family, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, family cookouts and enjoyed puzzles, sewing and crocheting.

Ruth is survived by two daughters, Jane Tobertga and her husband Kenneth of New Bedford and Susan Shubitowski of Westport; two sisters, her twin, Janice Bessette and her husband Honore of Dartmouth and Carol Petrasso and her husband Gerald of Westport; six grandchildren, Tracy, Laura, twins Kenneth 3rd and Phillip, Eric and Sarah; four great-grandchildren, Kiana, Yusef, Filon and Aubryana; and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be held in Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 10:30AM in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00PM. Burial in Rural Cemetery. For tributes and online registration: www.rock-funeralhome.com
