She was born on Sept 16, 1938 in Baltimore, Md. She graduated from Eastern (All Girls’) High School in 1956. Shortly thereafter, she began her long career as a Legal Secretary w/ Callahan, Caldwell & Laudeman. Later, she relocated to Florida where she worked as an administrative assistant until she retired. Like her Grandmother, “Mimi”, she had a strong work ethic, and like her, she retired in her 70’s.
Hers was a humble life lived with an amazing, steadfast love for her family, life-long friends, and her Lord….a life lived with the firm belief in Heaven to follow! Hers was a journey of unwavering strength in all circumstances, including illness. She was a pillar of strength to all who knew her. With joy and eagerness, she was always ready to help whether chaperoning a field trip to St Augustine, selling pizzas at the arena for a cheerleading fundraiser, or hemming a dress for an out-of –town bridesmaid the day before the wedding. With pleasure and purpose, she attended stage productions, cheerleading events, soccer games, tennis matches, and all ceremonies (whether at church or school). She cherished the smallest of gifts that we gave her always, reflecting on them in her heart w/ love and tenderness.
She shared her love of British and Civil War history, Monet, Musicals (“The King and I" was a favorite), Ballet (esp. the Nutcracker), , Jimmy Wu’s, Willie Nelson (and a few of his country peers), Guy Penrod, James Taylor, English tea, and of course, the color pink! She equally loved her Bible study classes w/ Pastor, Marv Rosenthal. As a true Marylander, she loved crabs, shrimp, Old Bay, Mary Sue Easter Eggs, Fisher’s Popcorn, chocolate snowballs w/ marshmallow, tomato sandwiches, or sometimes, grilled cheese sandwiches w/ thinly sliced tomatoes! For her, love, loyalty, honesty, and integrity were key! We are blessed by her unending love!! Amen! Amen!
She is survived by her two daughters: Kimberly (Walter) Christoefl, Julie (Steve) Steingass; four grandchildren: Christian Christoefl, Trevor Christoefl, Heather Norton (Steingass), Rachel Steingass; Step-brother, John Adam; two step-sisters: Carla Hawke, Diane McNeave.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents Vanessa E. Fresko (Dunkle), James E. McCauley, Step-father, Charles Fresko; two brothers: Step-brother, David Duncan, Guy McCauley.
