Liberty Canales Rabanes Davis of Davao City, the Philippines passed away on the morning of Friday, May 11, 2018 at her home in Six Mile, South Carolina after a very lengthy illness. Ms. Davis lost her brave battle with cancer only six days following her 48th birthday. She is survived by her 15-year-old daughter, Adrienna Caroline, and her husband of sixteen years, Roger Dale Davis, both of the home
Best known for her warm smile and ability to make friends, Liberty was employed for thirteen-and-one-half years at Cornell Dubilier in Liberty, South Carolina. She also enjoyed working outside during the summer, taking much pride in growing beautiful plants and flowers in the yard.
Mrs. Davis graduated from the University of Mindanao in 1991, earning a Bachelor of Secondary Education degree. She attended Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pickens as well as United Wesleyan Church in Easley, where her daughter takes piano lessons and frequently participates in musical events at the church.
Liberty is the daughter of the late Vicenta Canales Rabanes and Nemisio Rabanes, also deceased. She is also survived by two brothers, Roel Rabanes of Greenville, South Carolina, and Armand Rabanes, who is a current resident of the Philippines.Liberty has two sisters, Antonita Rea of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Rowena Rabanes of the Philippines.
Liberty worked very hard to take care of her family, employed with two companies for much of 2017, unaware of the progression of her deadly illness. She kept her sister and husband smiling from time to time almost until the final hour of her life. Despite the seriousness of her condition, Liberty found humor in things even on the eve of her passing. She will be missed tremendously by all of those whose lives she touched during her much too brief time on earth.
Friends will be received at Dillard Funeral Home on Highway 8 in Pickens on the evening of Friday, May 18 between the hours of 5 and 8 PM. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 PM on Saturday, May 19 at United Wesleyan Church at 738 Rice Road in Easley. Leading the service will be Pastor Tim Jones, with a number of other speakers contributing to the service. Burial will take place in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.
