Josue Brutus, born on September 29, 1930 in Limbe, Haiti, to the late David & Belile Brutus, passed away at age 87 on May 11, 2018 at his home in Lakewood Ranch, Florida following a sudden illness. He was surrounded by his family. A retired Maintenance Supervisor for The Commonwealth of Massachussetts, Josue was married to Madernie (Cajuste) Brutus. He was preceded in death by his brother, Luc Brutus. Josue is survived by his sons, Guyps Brutus and his wife Patrice of Buford, GA, Joz Brutus and his wife Trisha of Lakewood Ranch, FL, Jenks Brutus and his wife Nancy of Medford, NY, Fred Brutus of Sarasota, FL, and John Brutus and his wife Kiyana of Gilbert, AZ; a brother Prudeau Brutus of Canada, a sister Yola Brutus of Brooklyn, NY; twenty-two grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
Josue's hobbies included reading the Bible, playing dominoes, spending time with his family and serving his church. He served as a deacon at Temple Salem in Dorchester, MA, Philadelphie SDA Church in Miami, FL and Beracah First Haitian SDA Church in Bradenton, FL.
Friends and family members may attend visitation on Sunday, May 20th from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Bradenton SDA Church, 2106 17th Ave W. Bradenton, FL 34205. A celebration of life ceremony will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. officiated by Pastor Israel Jean-Leon. The burial ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Mansion Memorial Park in Ellenton. A reception will be held following the burial at Bradenton SDA Church. The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Beracah First Haitian SDA church.
