She was born on January 2, 1926, in Brooklyn, West Virginia. She lived 90 years in West Virginia before moving to Ashburn, Virginia to live with her daughter, Brenda.
Eva was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She was caring, loving, helpful, strong, kind and sometimes funny. She had a big heart and her graciousness was felt by all. Her home was a welcoming place.
Eva was a long-standing member of the Fayetteville United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She worked as a receptionist at an optometry office, and she was active in the Fayetteville community. In addition to being a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 149, she served in several leadership positions for the Auxiliary. Eva was a volunteer at the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center, an active member of the Fayetteville High School Band Boosters and a local brownie leader.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delta William Harrah; mother, Mary E. Reed Novitsky; brothers, Charlie, Kenneth and Carl Novitsky; sister, Nellie Mullins; and son-in-law, Don MacEoin.
Surviving are two daughters: Brenda MacEoin of Ashburn, Virginia and Barbara Conley (Doug) of Plymouth, MN; three granddaughters: Kristina Ulloa (Gonzalo); Alisa Keniger (Adam); Megan Niemer (Alex); seven great-grandchildren: Amanda, Evan, Annalise and Samantha Jackson; Garrett Keniger; Delta and Trinity Niemer; sister, Ann Copen; and many special step-grandchildren, step-great-grandsons, nephews, nieces, cousins and sisters-in-law.
Visitation will be 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, 350 W Maple Avenue, Fayetteville, West Virginia 25840.
Funeral service will be Friday, June 8, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Fayetteville United Methodist Church with Rev. Timothy D. Bleigh officiating. Viewing before the ceremony will begin at 12:00 PM. Burial at the Huse Memorial Park in Fayetteville will follow.
