She was peceded in death by her son Larry Eugene Maze, parents Admiral Dewey Bailey and Eva Adeline (Neal) Bailey, husband Ralph Bennington, Jr., brothers Garrett, Kenneth and Robert, nephew Kenneth Lee Bailey and his wife Pam, grandchildren Michelle and Chad Bennington, great grandson Jase.
She is survived by her sister Lois D. Bailey Jones, step-son Bill Bennington (Vickie), 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, nieces Donna F. Goebel and Diana J. Allen and nephew Shane Lewis.
She died May 13, 2018 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center where she was taken after suffering devastating injuries after a fall. She was surrounded by her family as she departed this life.
She worked for West Virginia American Water for 52 years. After she retired, she volunteered seven years, 40 hours a week at the Sojourners Shelter in Charleston, including modeling clothing for more than 20 years for their annual fund raiser style show. Director Margaret Taylor recently commented that her files will never be the same without "Miss Imogene." As a result of her volunteer service she earned the Governor's Service Award on August 10, 2011.
She loved her children, grandchildren, reading, coffee, a good meal and dogs. Her laugh was infectious and always at the ready.
Tyler Mountain Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. The family will receive visitors at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home, 5233 Rocky Fork Road, Cross Lanes, at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2018, with the funeral service at 2:00 p.m.
