Cheri Lynn Egli, 65, passed away on May 13, 2018, in Portland. She was born on August 1, 1952, in Portland, to Irvin Eugene and Sara (Scott) Friderich. She attended Gresham High School, and graduated in 1971.
Cheri married her husband, David Egli on June 11, 1973 in Stevenson, Washington. They met for the first time following a motocross race that David had won. He saw Cheri at the finish line, and it was love at first sight. He knew that he would one day marry her. Two months later, he proposed to her. David and Cheri were surprised to learn that after WWII, their parents were neighbors, and David went to school with Cheri’s siblings, and in spite of this they had never met!
Cheri went to work for Boeing in 1973 as a Machinist. Through her work, she had the opportunity to attend classes at local colleges. She spent 40 years as a machinist which included 6 years of supervising. She was a wonderful boss, and treated her employees as equals. She gained their respect and admiration, and she was greatly missed when she retired in July of 2013, after 40 years of service to the company.
After retirement, Cheri was able to spend more time with her family, which was her favorite thing to do, as well as her dogs. She also had the opportunity to continue traveling, and they took a trip to all of the National Parks West of the Rockies. She also enjoyed traveling to Disneyland, Mexico, New York and San Francisco. She was a wonderful Hostess, and would often host family gatherings at her home. She is described by her family as a wonderful cook, and she would always have a plate of food ready for whoever walked through the door. Cheri will forever be remembered by family and friends as a loving, kind and generous woman, who was also strong, independent, and stubborn at times.
Cheri was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband, David Egli; daughters Sara Mae Egli and Faith Egli; beloved dog Peanut; siblings Terry, Scott, Vicki and Dawn; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. She will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Cheri's Life will be held on Saturday, June 9th, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Family Home, located at 44885 SE Kleinsmith Road, Sandy, OR 97055.
