Charlene Walker Cavin, 84, of Austin, passed away May 16, 2018. She was born in Huntington, TX, on May 10, 1934. Charlene graduated from Galena Park High School and then worked at Prudential in Houston. She married in 1956 and was a proud Air Force spouse, living in Okinawa, Cape Cod, Vermont, Mississippi, and Texas. Ultimately settling in Austin in 1968, she raised four children and had a twenty-year career at the Internal Revenue Service. Following retirement from the IRS, she worked part-time as a lunch lady at Parmer Lane Elementary and finally as a clerical associate at Benefit Systems, Inc.
Charlene had a green thumb and a sweet tooth. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, action movies, and a good game of Scrabble or Uno. Charlene was patriotic and loved all things Texas, particularly wildflowers and her two favorite teams, the Texas Longhorns and San Antonio Spurs. She was a member of Great Hills Baptist Church and lived out her faith daily with a heart full of kindness, grace, and generosity.
Charlene was the loving mother of Tim Cavin and wife, Lori, of Georgetown, Teri Daeschner and husband, Troy, of Pflugerville, Todd Cavin and wife, Joyce, of San Antonio, and Toni Poulain and husband, Marc, of Liberty Hill. She was the proud Granny to twelve grandchildren: Nick Cavin, April Cavin, Allison Cavin, Trenton Daeschner, Clayton Daeschner, First Lieutenant Robert Cavin, Taylor Cavin, Marc Poulain, Jr., Kristin Poulain, Kayley Poulain, the late Justin Poulain, and Morgan Poulain. She was also the beloved sister to JoAnn Johnson of Gilmer, Aunt and Great Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.
