Charlene Elizabeth (Allen) Taylor, 88, of Olathe, passed away on May 16, 2018. She was born in Kansas City, MO on August 28, 1929 to Charles and Dora Allen. She attended St. Michael’s Catholic School and Glennon High School in Kansas City. On October 31 1950, she married Howard Taylor. They spent 4 years living in Chicago, moving back to Kansas City to be close to family. She spent many years as a hardworking homemaker, taking care of her home, her husband, and raising her 3 children. Prior to retirement, she worked for Midwest Surgical Group at Olathe Medical Center.
Charlene was an avid sports fan and loved cheering on KU Men’s Basketball, the Kansas City Royals, the Kansas City Chiefs, and any sports that her grandchildren played. She was a kind and caring person, with a servant heart, had a tremendous love for the Lord and the Catholic Church, and was devoted to her family, especially her 3 children, 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Charlene is survived by her daughter Deborah Taylor of Olathe; twin sons Michael and Howard Taylor of Kansas City; grandson Brent (Kristin) Morris of Merriam; granddaughter Shalee Morris of Olathe; grandson Steve Taylor of Los Angeles; great grandchildren Izabella and Isaiah Morris, and her brother Jim (Dottie) Allen of Lee’s Summit. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Nadine Allen and brother Charles Allen.
Charlene resided her last months at Villa St. Francis, and her last days at Olathe Hospice House. A special thank you to the staff at both places who cared for her and her family so well.
Visitation will be held 10am, Monday, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11am, on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 16000 N. 143rd St, Olathe, KS 66062. Burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS.
