He was born September 12, 1930 to E.F. & Lorene Brown in Okemah, OK. The family moved to Odessa when he was 7 years old. Eventually, he graduated from Odessa High School.
He met and married Donna Boon in 1954.The two were very involved in building up a congregation and making lasting friendships at Lutheran Church of the Risen Lord. He worked as an appliance salesman for Sears Roebuck for 30 years, offering a gentle caring smile to everyone he encountered. He then retired and became a Chaplin for Home Hospice, as well as interim pastor for Lutheran Church of the Risen Lord for a year. After serving with Home Hospice for 8 years he retired due to health reasons. He had an immense love for his wife and family. The impact he had on so many people will never be forgotten.
Dick was preceded in death by his mother Lorene, father Everett, and sister Betty Lou Sparks.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Donna, and their three children, daughter Lisa McClure and her husband JC McClure of Kingsland, TX, son Robert Brown and wife Kristen Brown of Richmond, TX, and son Michael Brown and wife Karin Brown of Perrysburg, OH, as well as ten, grandchildren Scarlet, Campbelle, Rachel, Hannah, Olivia, Joshua, Conner, Cooper, Aaron, and Michael and four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Arianna, and the twin girls Kathryn and Gianna, as well as nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are in care of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors, 4635 Oakwood Dr., Odessa, TX 79761. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday May 25 from 5:00pm-7:00pm. Funeral services will be held at Lutheran Church of the Risen Lord 1603 N. Grandview on May 26 at 10:00am. Burial will immediately follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens 6801 E. Business 20.
