Clarence E. “Shorty” Wideman, 70, of Port Lavaca passed away May 24, 2018. He was born January 25, 1948 in Kirbyville, TX to Willie and Katy Mae Lumpkins Wideman. Shorty loved woodworking, camping, hunting and fishing. He was a jack of all trades and master of none. He was a retired bus driver from CCISD Route 30 for 25 years. He was a Vietnam Veteran with 3 bronze stars, purple heart and sharp shooter in pistol and rifle; was a member of Bayside Community Church in Olivia, volunteer at Memorial Medical Center and a past member of the VFW. Shorty loved his 2 puppies “Mojo” and “Tammy Mae”.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Wideman; son, Will Wideman; sister, Fannie Amos; and sister-in-law, Rachel Ann Wood (Larry).
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters and 1 brother.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 9-10 a.m. at Bayside Community Church, 25080 Hwy 172, in Olivia. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. with Pastor Ruben Castillo officiating. The family asks that everyone wear camouflage to the service. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of Calhoun County Veterans Joint Honor Guard.
Pallbearers are Frank “Woody” Woods, Raymond Butler, Randy Teague, Johnny Ray Maseda, “Big Roy” Olivares and Joe Hernandez.
