Mr. Humphrey was born on August 28, 1944 In Brunswick, GA, son of the late Cully John Humphrey and Edna Elizabeth Maynard Humphrey.
Mr. Humphrey was a graduate of Reinhardt College and also proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a Quality Control Inspector for both Scientific Atlanta and Siemen’s Corporation until his retirement. He was a true and faithful servant of the Lord and a longtime member of Tucker Christian Church in Tucker, GA. Mr. Humphrey was a practical joker and for those that knew him, knew he would never pass up an opportunity to make them laugh. He loved to work with his hands and was truly a “Mr. Fix It.” He lived by the motto, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” He could fix anything. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his bicycle and motorcycle. His true passion and the light of his life, was his family. He was a loving, dedicated and passionate husband, father and grandfather who is already so greatly missed, but will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty-two years, Glenda Tucker Humphrey; daughter, Maxie Huxtable and her fiancé, Kenny Landers; son, Joe (Thelma) Marshall; grandchildren, Alex and Margie Huxtable and Avery and Aiden Marshall; sister, Bennie (Dr. Leo) Walker of Columbia, SC; nephews, Greg and Brian Walker; grand-niece, Myra Walker.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 9th of June, 2018 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Woody Bowen officiating. Interment will be conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 11th of June, 2018 in the Georgia National Cemetery.
