It is with great sadness that the family of Charles Edward Monahan announce his passing at the age of 78. Charley will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 41 years, Doreen and his children, Paul Monahan, Erin Caiazza, Kathryn McCormack and Gary Monahan. Charley will also be fondly remembered by his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, Nicholas Caiazza, Finnegan McCormack, Payton Monahan, Carrigan McCormack, Stephanie Caiazza, Joseph Caiazza and Aidan Caiazza, by his brother, James Dresch. Charley was predeceased by his mother, Anne Monahan.

Charles enlisted in the US Army in 1958 until 1961, continued to serve in the reserves until 1991. He was stationed at Ft. Dix, NJ, Ft. Benning, GA, Ft. Jackson, SC, Ft. Lewis then Korea, Ft. Totten, NY and Ft. Hamilton, NY. Awards and associations include:

Charles had a remarkable life and distinguished career. He continued to serve his country in the NYPD for 25 years from March
1, 1967 ‐ February 29, 1992. Charley retired as a Detective Lieutenant Squad Commander. He started as a Patrolman in 1967
then Mounted Division in 1968. In 1973 he started the Original Anti Crime Unit on Staten Island, NY and became Detective.
Promotions to Sergeant ‐ 1983, Lieutenant ‐ 1985 and Squad Commander of the 70 ‐ 1987 followed. Charley worked on High
Profile cases within the NYPD from Serial Killers to Organized Crime.

Charley was an original employee for the Boston Red Sox when they came into Ft. Myers Spring Training Area. He worked at
the City of Palms Park for 20 years. The Red Sox built a new stadium called Jet Blue Park which Charley worked at for the next
5 years until he retired due to grave illness. He worked security for the scouts, ball players and their families. He also handled
the tickets and seating.

Charley and Doreen renewed their wedding vows in Ireland on Jan 15, 1989 in a Cathedral in Dublin, Ireland. This past January
16, 2018 in Disney World, a perfect gathering of family and friends, witnessed Charley and Doreen renew their vows for a second
time. “It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow up to be”, Charles “Charley” was a wonderful husband
and man. He was loved and respected by all who knew him.
