Edmund Michael Piano, age 90, longtime resident of Hillsdale, NJ, formally of West New York, NJ passed away suddenly on June 1, 2018. Ed will be forever remembered by his wife and best friend of 64 years, Ann (nee Ninivaggi), and loving daughters Lynn Marano (Robert), Karen Novakowski (Frank), and Susan Barbarite (Joseph). “Poppy” was cherished by his six beautiful grandchildren, Marissa, Daniel, Nicholas, Matthew, Ryan, and Zachary. He is also survived by his sister, Mildred Piano, and brother, Daniel Piano, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. In 1944, Ed graduated from Memorial High School and went on to live his dream of playing professional baseball for the Boston Red Sox Farm Team. Shortly after joining the team, he put aside his dream to serve our country, as a private and then sergeant in the U.S. Army. Ed was a partner in the Piano Fuel Oil business, and then went on to own and operate SLEAK Auto Parts with his wife, Ann, for over 30 years. He was an avid NY Yankee’s fan and member of the Hillsdale 50+ Club. Visitation for family and friends will take place on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd, Westwood, NJ from 3pm-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at St John the Baptist Church, 69 Valley St, Hillsdale, NJ at 10am. Interment George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
