Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
Betty was the daughter of the late William Neesa East and Edna Earle Woody East. Betty was a lifelong resident of Guilford County and graduated from Greensboro Senior High School. She lovingly raised six children and was active in their schools as a Grade Mother. She later worked at M.A.R.C. Opinion Research.
Betty liked watching QVC, spending time at the beach, the occasional snowstorm, and loved Christmas. She enjoyed her dogs, Carmen and Phantom. She especially took pleasure in sharing daily conversations with her family.
Gentle and nurturing with a genuine love for life, Betty smiled easily and maintained a positive outlook. The frequent family gatherings at her home were when she was most happy. Prior to his passing, Betty was a devoted and loving wife to Joseph Oliver Sr. As a mother, she provided her children with a storybook childhood and took a genuine interest in their lives as adults. That same attentiveness and love she showed to her children, she shared with her grandchildren, who were always excited to go to “Mimi’s”.
Betty is survived by her children Terri Washam (Tommy), Toni Lewis (Jody), Joseph Oliver, Jr. (Jamie), Chris Oliver, Sean Oliver, Shayna Buchelt (Gary), grandchildren, Kara Suzanne Washam, Matthew Joseph Oliver, and Liza Oliver Lewis.
