It is with great sadness that the family of Perry Lomond announce his sudden but peaceful passing at North Cypress Medical Center in Houston, Texas at the age of 54 years.
Perry is predeceased by his parents Maxwell G and Rebecca(Kitty)Lomond, sister Debbie Lomond, grandparents Maxwell C and Ivy Lomond, Emmanuel and Selina Osmond and mother in law Mildred Samms.
Perry leaves behind with fond and loving memories his wife of 25 years Marina (Samms), only child Anthony A. Lomond, and only grandson Luke A. Lomond both of Regina SK. His brother Bruce (Joanne) Osmond Beaverbank NS, sisters Patsy(Jerry) Wall and Wanda Lee(Jim) Blackmore both of Cape Ray, NL and Leann (Jay) Strickland Port aux Basques, NL. He also leaves behind his Father in Law Frank Samms Port aux Basques, NL, sisters in law Mary Ann(Calvin) Samms of Botwood, NL, Sheila (Rajinder)Samms Sarina, ON, Brothers in Law Almon(Elmina) Samms of Paradise, NL; Darrell (Wendy) Samms of Port aux Basques, NL; and Terry (Pauline) Samms of Deer Lake, NL. And a large circle of Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and co-workers.
Perry served in the Canadian Military from June 12, 1981 to Sept 8, 1987. He followed in his father’s footsteps and worked with CanMar Canada in the Beaufort Sea until he attended Memorial University in St. John’s, NL, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) Degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland. He holds an MBA from University of Phoenix in Houston, Texas. He has worked as a Professional Engineer for multiple companies and around the world. He went to work with SCC Environmental in NL and in Nova Scotia. Later he transferred to M-I SWACO in Houston, Texas, where he was employed for 15 years. Perry is a proud inventor and owner of several patents and publications. His inventions are successfully utilized in the oil and gas service sector, some that lead the industry globally. He was active in sponsoring and mentoring engineering design projects at the Cullen School of Engineering, U of Houston. He was proud to be working for Halliburton in Houston Tx. until his sudden passing.
Perry will be at Brookside Cypress Funeral Home in Houston Tx on Monday June 4th, so his Texas friends and co-workers can share their memories and stories of him. He will be travelling to Port aux Basques, NL where he will be at East Haven Funeral Home for his Newfoundland Family and friends to share their stories and memories. Funeral Services will be at East Haven Funeral Home with internment to follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery on Barchois Hill.
