He was born November 21, 1934, in Elizabeth, West Virginia, to parents John Paul and Juanita (Woolard) Morgan. Boyd was raised on a farm until moving to Portage County in the 1940’s.
Boyd retired as a tow motor driver for Harbinson Walker in Windham. He was a former member of the Charlestown and Palmyra Volunteer Fire Departments.
Boyd enjoyed woodworking, and along with his wife Alma, would create crafts that she would paint and sell throughout the area. He also enjoyed fishing, and since he was a mechanic at heart, could always be found fixing things around the house.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Alma Louise Morgan on November 7, 2017. Boyd was also preceded by his parents, his sister Iona Buterbaugh, and brothers Denzil Morgan and John Paul Morgan Jr.
Boyd is survived by his children: Linda (David) Terry, David (Kim) Morgan, Edward (Carol) Morgan and his grandchildren: Heather (Nicholas Duplay) Terry, Richard (Katie) Hibbard, Michael Meller, Christopher Morgan, Sara Morgan and Emily Morgan. Left also are great-grandchildren: Michael Meller Jr., Mackenzie Meller and Edwin Hibbard, as well as his sisters Virginia Pyles and Wanda Evans.
Friends and family will be received Friday, June 8, 2018, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, with funeral services officiated by Pastor Mark Hunt beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at West Cemetery in Palmyra.
