Larry Stephen Truett, 75 of Gastonia, passed away at his daughter’s home in Spring Lake on Thursday June 7, 2018. Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Larry was a simple man, but he was extremely mechanical. Larry loved cars. His prized possessions include a 1984 truck and a Kubota Tractor. Larry is retired from Coca-Cola.
Larry is the son of the late Nellie (Cathey) and Wilson Truett. Preceding Larry in death are his brother David Truett and step-brothers Bob and Frank Truett.
Larry leaves behind his loving wife, Linda (Freeman) Truett, a daughter Wanda Summitt and husband Curt and a son, Wendell Truett. He also leaves behind grandsons Curtis Summitt Jr. and Andrew Summitt. Also missing their great-grandfather are four great-grandchildren. Brothers Grady Truett and Johnny Truett survive Larry.
A graveside service for Larry will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday June 10, 2018 at Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park.
Grandsons Curtis Summitt Jr. and Andrew Summitt will lead the graveside service. Jimmy Pearson will also participate in the service.
