Wilda Pauline Berkman – Segars 96 of Miami passed away Friday, June 8th at home with her loved ones by her side. She was born June 8, 1922 in Dayton, Tennessee to Allen and Bertha Doss. She had two brothers Arden Doss and Leland Doss and one sister Louise Williams all of whom preceded her in death.
The family moved from Doss Hollow Tennessee to Everglades City, Florida in 1924. She attended High School in Everglades City and was the first City Clerk of Collier County. She married her first Husband, Allen Segars in 1940 and the family moved to Miami after the second World War. Her first husband Allen died in 1985
Wilda had three sons Donald Segars (1948), Allen T Segars (Fran) and John T Segars, and many nephews and nieces. She owned and operated Wilda’s Beauty Salon in Allapattah, a suburb of Miami, until the family moved to North Miami in 1955. She married Samuel Berkman in 1990 and lived happily together until his death in 2010. The vitiation is from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM Followed by a brief service on Tuesday June 12, 2018 at Caballero Rivero Funeral Home 15011 West Dixie Highway North Miami followed by internment at Southern Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pastor Simon Manru will be officiating. The family would like to thank Marcia and Michelle for their many years as her caregivers and The Leung Medical Center and Vitas Healthcare who helped with her care.
