Frederick Andrew Baker, “Andy” passed away at his home in Bremerton on Friday, June 8, 2018 at the age of 36. Andy was an incredible person who led a colorful life full of family, many friends, amazing food creations, dazzling theatrical productions, and exciting travels.
Andy spent his youth at Crown Hill Elementary School down on Rocky Point Road where he astounded his teachers with his quick wit and thirst for knowledge. His love for learning and reading began at a young age when his Grandmother, Eileen Jacobs, would read to Andy, his brother and cousins every day on a variety of subjects. It is a passion that would continue into his adult years.
Andy’s wonderful singing voice was discovered by his teacher, Cassie Gillis, in middle school which led to a life long love of theater. He was a part of many theater organizations and was active for many years: Bremerton High School, Bremerton Community Theater (BCT), the Performing Arts Guild of South Kitsap (PAG), and the Central Stage Theatre (CSTOCK) where he also directed. His years in theater brought out the best in Andy and lead him to make wonderful, strong friendships during his life. Interestingly, Andy also got to be an extra in the hit movie “10 Things I Hate About You” (1999) so count how many times you see him the next time you watch it!
Andy also had a passion for cooking and he really created magic with food. Being a “MacGyver” in the kitchen he could take random ingredients and create a 5-Star Meal for everyone. Often, he was found in the kitchen with his favorite set of ceramic knives and his marble mortar & pestle cooking up old family recipes to serve to family. He always wanted to make sure everyone was fed and happy before he sat down to eat.
Andy got to visit 17 different countries throughout his lifetime. He traveled to Australia with “Knights Down Under” on a junket with the Music Department in 2000. He also got to backpack throughout Europe with his brother, Tony, and cousin, Conner. In 2005 he moved to Goodyear, Arizona and lived there for five years until moving back to Bremerton, Washington in 2010 where he lived until his passing.
Andy is preceded in death by his grandmother, Eileen Marie Jacobs, his grandfather, Andrew Albert Jacobs, and his grandfather Frederick Allen Baker, Jr.
Andy is survived by his beloved dog, Jack Woo, his Mother, Susan Ella Baker, his Father, Frederick A. Baker III and his wife Rena Baker, his brother, Anthony J. Baker and his wife Kajal Baker, his Grandmother, Cynthia I. Baker, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
