Graveside service for William (Bill) Hare, age 94, will be Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Sylacauga, AL with the Reverend Byron White officiating. Visitation will precede the service from 1-2 p.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home, Hwy 21N, Sylacauga.
A WWII Veteran, Mr. Hare was in the First Special Service Force and participated in action at Anzio as well as other action in Italy, France, Germany, and Belgium. Upon returning home, he attended the University of Alabama, then transferred to Jacksonville State University where he graduated. He retired from Alabama Power Company. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he served in several positions.
Preceding Mr. Hare in death were his father and mother Arden and Pearl Caldwell Hare, his brother Dr. Joseph Hare of Talladega, and his great grandson Mason Sims of Birmingham.
He is survived by his wife of over 70 years Anne, daughter Jane Sims and husband Jim, two grandchildren Katherine Thompson (Philip) and Jay Sims (Jeanna), and five great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hope Class, First United Methodist Church, 105 East Spring Street, Sylacauga, AL 35150, or a favorite charity.
