David C. Schulz, 90, of Bloomington passed away at 9:05 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at his home. He was born January 19, 1928 in Bloomington, the son of Otto and Mildred Denison Schulz. He married Shirley Woith on January 23, 1949 in Bloomington. She survives.
David was a longtime meat cutter for Kroger, retiring in 1993. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1947. He was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. David loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, including Debbie (Jim) Ekstam of Greenville, Kentucky; Dixie Schulz of Bloomington; Darlene (Jerry) Pratt of Normal; and Kim Erickson of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Stacey Erickson of Towanda; Andrew (Serena) Erickson of Normal; Scott (Kelsey) Pratt of Bloomington; and Sara Pratt of Normal; and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Bill (Betty) Schulz of Bloomington; Richard (Dorothy) Schulz of Normal; and Edward Schulz of Colorado; and a sister, Sarah Smith of Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington. Entombment will follow at the East Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be held two hours prior to services at the funeral home.
