AUBURN: James E. Hewett, 79, of Auburn passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 19, 2018 at Clover Manor in Auburn. He was born in Fayette, ME on July 29, 1938 a son of the late Chester and Frances Hewett. He grew up in the Fayette area and attended local schools there. He was a graduate of Livermore High School.
After high school, James enlisted in and proudly served our country in the United States Air Force.
After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, James returned home and worked at various mills, the latest being at B.T.I. as a fiberglass stitcher until his retirement.
James will always be remembered for his love of hunting, fishing and enjoying the outdoors. He also enjoyed ice fishing and did not have a need for a shack. He was shoveling snow into his early 70's and still enjoyed it. He will be deeply missed by many.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 40 years, Judith Hewett of Auburn, his children; Kathy of Atlanta, GA, Edward Rose and his wife Natalie of Auburn, Adele Ridlon and her husband David of Standish, Eugene Rand and his wife Nancy of Brunswick and J.R. Rand of Brunswick. He also leaves behind his siblings; Larry, Patsy, Sally, Sandy and Mary as well as his 6 beloved grandchildren. He was predeceased by his siblings; Walter, John, Fred and Nancy.
