Mr. Harry W. Yenner, age 98 of Wilmington went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 21, 2018. He was born April 7, 1920 in Hopewell, New Jersey to Harry Yenner and Etta Bowers Yenner, both deceased. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Kenmore Yenner, in 2017.
Harry was a World War II veteran, a lifetime member with the American Legion Post 129, and was actively involved in the Katie B. Hines Senior Center since its origination. Harry moved to Carolina Beach, NC in 1981 because of how much it reminded him of the Jersey shore, and loved it as much as he loved the friends he made here. Whether it was attending the Fish Fry at the American Legion or playing cards and line dancing at the Katie B. Hines Senior Center, he continuously showed his support and enjoyed every minute of it.
He is survived by his daughters, Marie Mauro of Sicklerville, NJ, and Diann Burkhardt (Gerald) of Carolina Beach and son, Wayne Yenner of Wilmington, as well as eight grandchildren: Donna Mauro and John (Jennifer) of Sicklerville, NJ, Phil (Luz) Mauro of GA, Whitney Yenner of Leland, Christopher Burkhardt and Julie Burkhardt, both of Charleston, SC and Jason (Crystal) Burkhardt and Courtney Burkhardt, both of Wilmington and five great-grandchildren: Olivia, Isabella, and Natalia Mauro, Axton Burkhardt and Kimbrel Lunsford.
