He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Huguette (Levesque) of Potsdam, NY; his daughter, Gigi Crosby and her husband, Nick of Liverpool, NY; his daughter, Chantal Domingos of Redway CA; his son, Scott Domingos and his wife, Keilah Worth of Lebanon, NH; five grandchildren, Lindsey Crosby, Zachary Crosby, Kayla Crosby, Luca Domingos-Worth, and Emerson Domingos-Worth; his sisters Mary Villnave, of Portland, OR, and Irene DeGraff and her husband, John of Scotia, NY; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.He is predeceased by his parents, sisters Natalia Overmier, Louise Hochmuth and brother, George Domingos.
Hank was born on September 17, 1934 in Massena, NY to Acacio and Joaquina Domingos. He graduated from Massena Central High School in 1952 then attended Clarkson University in the fall of that year. Upon graduation, he was awarded the prestigious Levinus Clarkson Award, presented at commencement to one of two students who in the judgment of the University faculty had demonstrated the best combination of scholarship and professional achievement. Hank was also awarded a Hughes Master of Science Fellowship, which allowed him to obtain his master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California. In 1958, he joined the faculty of the University of Nevada at Reno as an assistant professor. In 1960 he enrolled in the Ph.D. program at the University of Washington and graduated in 1963. That fall, he joined the staff at Clarkson where he served as associate professor, professor and chair of the Electrical Engineering Department until his retirement in 1998.
Hank’s achievements during his tenure at Clarkson included being a recipient of the the University’s Outstanding Teaching Award in 1989 and the Golden Knight Award in 1991. He published over 30 papers, mostly on subjects relating to Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), served on numerous collegiate and technical society committees, was a Senior Member of the IEEE, and supervised the graduate work of over 30 students.
Hank was a celebrated wrestler at both the high school and collegiate levels. He was inducted to both the Massena High School and the Clarkson University Athletic Halls of Fame. As a senior at Clarkson he concluded the regular season campaign with a perfect 14-0 record wrestling at 130 pounds.
Henry was a dedicated member of St. Mary’s Parish in Potsdam, NY, and served in many leadership roles in the church and school communities, as well as being an Eucharistic Minister. He and Huguette were recognized for their service to the diocese of Ogdensburg with the Bishop Edgar P. Wadham’s award for distinguished service, noting their active participation in the life and worship of St. Mary’s Parish, service and support for the formation to the Formation for Ministry Program, contributions to the Serra Club, and their outstanding example of piety and service of the poor and sick.
Hank will be remembered fondly for attending the many softball, soccer and hockey games of his children, beating those who dared at wrestling, racquetball, or chess, telling stories about cows, driving to all family vacations, laughing at Charlie Chaplin movies, and for providing a lifetime of love and support to his wife, family, and friends.
Calling hours will be at 11 am on Saturday, June 30 at the Garner Funeral Home at 10 Lawrence Ave., Potsdam, NY, followed by a funeral mass at 1:30 pm at St. Mary’s Church, 20 Lawrence Ave., Potsdam, NY.
