Cheri passed away on June 25, 2018 in San Luis Obispo, California after a hard fought but short battle with Leukemia. Cheri's funeral service and interment is being held Friday, June 29, 2018 at Los Osos Valley Memorial Park.
Cheri was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Fresno California in 1964. Cheri attended Fresno State University where she graduated with a degree in Primary Education with a major in English. Cheri began her teaching career with Fresno Unified School District where she later retired in 2004 after 34 years of dedicated service.
Cheri met her husband Tim Warlin in Fresno on September 15, 1972 and were married on January 27, 1973. Cheri and Tim had their son Brent Charles Warlin in Bellevue Washington on July 30, 1979.
Cheri moved back to Fresno to resume her teaching career after a few years in Washington. Cheri loved teaching and her students and parents loved Cheri. Cheri received many letters from parents recognizing Cheri for her dedication and service above and beyond expectations.
Cheri is survived by her husband Tim, their son Brent, sister Janice Der Garabedian, Brother-In-Law John Der Garabedian, nephew Brian Der Garabedian of Los Osos, CA, Brother-In-Law James Warlin, Sister-In-Law Karla Warlin of Cathedral City CA and her nephew Nathan Warlin of Sandy Utah.
Cheri was a prolific knitter and extremely artistically talented. Some of her products were baby hats and blankets, adult hats and scarfs, women's sweaters, women's shrugs, and women's shawls. She and her sister Jan participated in many local craft fairs where Cheri's creations were displayed and sold. Cheri also did felted knit handbags, wool wall art, and needlepoint. To say she was talented is a gross understatement.
When Cheri was not knitting her creations she was an avid reader and supporter of the local library.
Cheri's family and friends remember Cheri as extremely thoughtful, compassionate, hard working and caring. Cheri always remembered birthdays and holidays and helped everyone celebrate by sending cards and gifts. Cheri was very special and she will be missed.
