Benjamin “Ben” Tapiador, Sr. age 85, passed away at home, surrounded by his family on June 28th 2018. He was born on June 28th, 1933 in Nueva Ecija, Philippines to Leoncio and Monica. He graduated from the University of the Philippines, Los Baños with a degree in Fisheries and continued with further studies in Commerce and received an MBA. He moved to Iloilo City after he met and married Magdalena Diez in 1966. He worked for the Development Bank of the Philippines (Iloilo, Bohol & Cebu) for 25 years where he made many friends and was well respected. His banking career continued beyond the shores of the Philippines when in 1983 he moved to Zambia, Africa as World Bank Consultant and later to pursue different business ventures including a medical clinic and restaurant. He sacrificed many years away from his family to provide and support for them.
In 1997 he was able to move to California to be with his family where he remained. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, gem crafts and mostly family trips and gatherings (having travelled across country with his Apos [Grandchildren] just last summer and many other trips before that).
Hindi ka namin malilimutan, Dad, you will always be remembered and truly missed!
He is survived by his beloved wife Magdalena, children Lucia (Bruce), Carmen (Danilo), Benjamin Jr. (May) and Cristina (John) and grandchildren, great grandchild and brother Domingo and Edgardo.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, July 15th 2018, from 4:00 - 8:30pm at Lima Family Milpitas-Fremont with Rosary and Novena Prayer at 6pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 16th, 2018 at 2:00 pm at The Church of Transfiguration in San Jose.
