Her parents, Harlan and Chessie (Hunt) Brown, proudly welcomed their daughter into the world on August 16, 1928 in Keene, NH.
Ruth grew up in Marlborough on the family farm and developed life-long friendships with the neighborhood farming community.
She was a graduate of Marlborough High School, and went on to graduate from Becker College in Worcester, MA.
Ruth started a successful career as a medical secretary in Boston. In 1988, she was recruited as an administrative assistant for the newly formed Ob/Gyn Department at Massachusetts General Hospital. She remained a dedicated administrator in that department until her retirement in 2012.
Ruth maintained strong ties to Marlborough and returned on weekends, holidays and vacations. Family was very important to her. She was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend to all her Marlborough connections. She was very generous. Her Boston apartment was always open to family and friends from Marlborough. Whether you needed a place to stay to take a college class, a summer job, go to a ball game, a play, a museum or were having a medical issue she would get you tickets or appointments.
Ruth married Lloyd Frechette later in life and became step-mother to his daughter.
She was a passionate animal lover. She rescued several dogs and cats over her lifetime, and was a patron of several animal rescue and shelter organizations. She also enjoyed feeding the birds, squirrels and chipmunks in her retirement.
She will be greatly missed by her friends and family which include a sister, Doris Wilcox of Marlborough; her nieces, Joyce Puleo and her husband, Joseph, of Marlborough and Barbara Wilcox of Concord, NH; her nephews, David Wilcox and his wife, Kim, and Steven Wilcox and his partner, Joellen, all of Marlborough; a step-daughter, Buffy Tarr and her husband, Michael, of Munsonville, NH; six great-nephews and great-nieces; three great-great-nieces and a great-great-nephew; and her beloved cat, Feather. She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd Frechette.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 1:00PM in the Federated Church of Marlborough, 16 Pleasant Street, Marlborough. Rev. Robert Vodra, Interim Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the East Cemetery, Old Harrisville Road, Marlborough.
