Kenneth L. Stoltzfus, age 62, passed away in his home in Lebanon, PA on Monday, July 2, 2018, surrounded by his wife and children. His strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried him through a thirteen year battle with cancer. While it is with great sadness that his passing is announced, we have greater comfort in knowing that he is now residing in the heaven that he loved to sing about.
Ken was born in Hartville, Ohio, the eighth of ten children. He was a talented woodworker and was the owner/operator of Ken Stoltzfus Carpentry for 25 years. His skilled craftsmanship and attention to detail brought accolades from many homeowners and local businesses. In his free time, he was passionate about bluegrass music as a musician, sound technician, and concert goer. Ken was very proud of his rich Mennonite and Amish ancestry and enjoyed visiting family in Ohio and South Carolina. Above all else, Ken was a follower of Jesus Christ and found peace that comes only from God. He stood firm in trials and was an inspiration to all around him with his joy, warm smile, and thoughtfulness towards others.
Ken will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary; his children, Michelle and Herb Suereth, Joshua Stoltzfus, and Wendi and Luke Yellin; his step-children, Lance Saunders, Byron and Erika Saunders, Heather and Dan Lively, and Sean Leslie; his grandchildren, Levi and Josiah Suereth, Joelle Stoltzfus, Brock and Owen Saunders, and Julie and Amaya Lively; his nine siblings Aden and Pauline Stoltzfus, Fannie and Loyal Wengerd, Rosie and Val Miller, Ben and Cindy Stoltzfus, Barbara and Billy Stoll, Elsie and Julian Yoder, Reuben and Norma Stoltzfus, Marcia and Roger Lollis, and Jerry and Dianne Stoltzfus; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Ken was greeted with open arms in heaven by his parents, Elam and Mary (Miller) Stoltzfus.
A memorial service to honor Ken’s life will be held Saturday, July 14 at 1:00 pm at First Assembly of God Harrisburg, 4100 Progress Ave, Harrisburg. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Houses of Hope through Hope Force International (https://www.hopeforce.org/what-we-do/current-programs/haiti-programs/houses-of-hope/).
