Louis Henry Bergeron II, 57, of Valrico Florida passed away from pancreatic cancer at home on Sunday, July 1, 2018; Louie entered into his eternal life with Jesus surrounded by his family, whom he cherished dearly.
Uncle Louie, or the “Big UL” as he was fondly called by his numerous nieces and nephews, was a loving and generous man. He would often help strangers in distress on the side of the road, and would literally give the shirt off of his back to anyone in need. He loved animals and took care of strays and pets alike. If a family member ever needed any help- with moving, burying a kitten that was accidentally run over, dealing with a snake in the living room, or doing “crash tests” in the car while driving toddlers- Louie was the man for the job. He was unparalleled in his drive for giving happily to others, and in his love for his family.
Louie is remembered by his family as a political man with strong convictions, passionate about world events, who could hold his own in any political debate. He loved the Lord, read the Bible daily, and spoke of it to others. He was exceptionally humorous, and was known by his family for his sometimes corny jokes that he would repeat over and over, laughing just as hard each time he told one.
Louie was a catcher for Little League baseball in his youth and also loved playing football. As he got older, Louie became an avid duck hunter and fisherman, and was a member of the Kissimmee Duck Club for almost 38 years. He also enjoyed snow skiing and taking vacations with his family. Louie was an entrepreneur, owning his own business and partnering with one of his childhood friends.
Ultimately taken from his family much too soon, his relatives are still grateful for the many times Louie evaded death in the past. He was known for having used up most of his nine lives, although his family was still hoping for a tenth: he survived a head-on collision on his motorcycle and walked away; he survived a major heart attack; he survived a near-drowning when he was alone on his boat, got tangled in a rope, and fell overboard, while his boat continued traveling in circles; he survived a fall from a 20-foot scaffolding which shattered both his legs. He was a fighter and one of the strongest men his family knew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Henry and Marie Elizabeth Bergeron, and his mother-in-law Muriel Preziosi. Louie is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Luanne Bergeron; a brother John Bergeron (Deborah); sisters, Cheryl Bergeron and Daniella Bergeron Crays (Dave); father-in-law, Louis Preziosi; brothers-in-law, Mark Preziosi, Anthony Preziosi and Louis Preziosi Jr. (Chantell); sisters-in-law, Michelle O’Madigan, Maria Slowey (Tom) and Paula Brice (Tom); and many loved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
The family invites friends to a memorial mass at Nativity Catholic Church, 705 E Brandon Boulevard, on Thursday, July 5, 2018 beginning at 1:30 p.m., and to a gathering in the social hall immediately following the mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity close to Louie’s heart, the Nativity Food Pantry, at 705 E. Brandon Boulevard, Brandon, Florida 33511.
