Rose Marie deGregorio Pipitone, age 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 2, 2018, at her home in San Diego. Rose Marie was born on June 5, 1936 in Detroit Michigan; the oldest of two children to Salvatore and Caterina Vitale. The family subsequently settled in San Diego and spent their summers in Italy. She was a graduate of Our Lady of Peace.
In June of 1955, Rose Marie married Fabio deGregorio. Though the union was not destined to be, it did produce two sons whom she adored and happily devoted her time, energy and love to raise. Rose Marie had a big heart and her home soon became a second home to many of her son's friends. It wasn't until much later in life, another chance for marital happiness came when she reconnected with Charles Pipitone; whom she had met as a young girl. They began dating and in April of 1997 married.
Those who knew or met Rose Marie could see the beauty in her heart. She was kind, thoughtful, filled with joy and laughter, and had impeccable style. Even a trip to the grocery store deserved the same care as a gala. Rose Marie was very outgoing. Her birthday and luncheon groups, as well as her involvement with local charities kept her busy.
Every year she would host a much anticipated Christmas luncheon in which everyone brought a toy or article of clothing to benefit the Polinsky Children's Center. Rose Marie loved to entertain, and took great pleasure in cooking. And, if you were lucky enough to share in one of her dinners, you knew that you would be treated to a delicious Italian feast.
She had a passion for life that was contagious. She loved to travel and as she would say "collect new friends along the way"; of which she had many.
Rose Marie loved her family fiercely and she was, and will continue to be loved by them, and all those whose life she graced.
On Thursday, July 12, 2018, a public viewing will be held at Goodbody Mortuary located on El Cajon Blvd between the hours of 4 - 8 PM. A Catholic mass service will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018 at 11 AM at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in La Jolla; followed by her interment at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations in memory of Rose Marie Pipitone be made to the Polinsky Children's Center.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.goodbodymortuary.com for the Pipitone family.
