parents and siblings. Born April 27, 1935 the youngest child of Ellis and Clara Barnes Martin. Those
whom knew her, mostly simply as “Duck”. Her passion in life was family, friends, and her ART.
Duck was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church and member of Abernathy Riding Club.
She was a Floral Designer for all three Wholesale Florist in Lubbock at one time.
As a young girl she started carving on bars of soap. Discovering her love and talent for ALL THINGS WESTERN. She learned to carve wood, create bronze and aluminum sculptures. Duck once stated “Kids, Horses, Cowboys; That’s what I like; that’s what I know”. Displaying her art sculptures at National Cowboy Symposium, Western Heritage Classic, Golden Boot Award in California, Cowboy Classic Film Festival, Wyoming and numerous art galleries. She was proudest of sculptures in aluminum at Lubbock High School
“WESTERNER” and Coronado High School “MUSTANG”.
She started teaching in Art in Lamesa, TX in 1966. Moving to Matthews Junior High in 1968. Lubbock High School in 1975, of which she was a graduate Class of 1953. Graduating Texas Tech University.
Preceded in death by her parents, sister, Mozelle Goble, brothers Keith Martin and Bayless
Martin.
Duck was a second mom to her nephews and nieces, J.C. Goble, and Gary Goble of Lubbock,
Lynn Goble of Abernathy, Michelle Meyer and Fred of Dallas, Melissa Pate and Matt of Plano. Six great
nieces and nephews and many former students.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am. Monday July 9, 2018 at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with Pastor Syl Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. A visitation will be held Sunday July 8, 2018 at Resthaven Funeral Home from 2-4 pm.
