Mother and grandmother were her proudest roles
Lydia Ransier began dancing in Heaven on July 2, 2018.
A celebration of our angel will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018, from 5 to 9 p.m., at Virginia Funeral Home, 1707 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island. A church service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ann's Church, 101 Cromwell Ave.
Lydia was born on May 31, 1939, in Alia, Italy. When she was 14 her family moved to Staten Island, N.Y., for a better life. She graduated from New Dorp High School. She later married Nelson Ransier in 1962.
A dedicated and loving mom, she raised four children: Glenn, Lydia, Kara and Kerry. She was further blessed with four grandchildren: Andrew, Skylar, Johnny and Brooke. Lydia's role as mother and grandmother was the most important thing to her, and her source of strength. Her proudest moments were when her children and grandchildren succeeded, for their successes were her successes!
Mom was a loving, caring and compassionate soul. She miraculously held the family together under difficult circumstances, sending them to private school and providing a beautiful home.
Lydia loved gardening, flowers, the sun, the color blue, dancing, laughing and singing! She easily made friends and loved starting conversations with perfect strangers. She was beautiful inside and out, quirky and funny.
Lydia was the youngest daughter of Barbara and Salvatore LaMendola. She has joined her siblings, Carlo, Salvatore, DeDe and Marie. Mom suffered from dementia. For those desiring, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association at alz.org, as a tribute to Lydia Ransier.
