Charles Jones was born October 12, 1946 to Elbert and Virginia Jones in Bonham, Texas. He was the oldest son of five children, which included Freddie, Raymond (both deceased), Willie, Theresa and also Lessie (a niece he considered like a sister).
A Time for Reverence to God
Accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. He was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church. He strived daily to grow stronger in his faith in the Lord.
A Time for Learning, Devotion and Work
He received his early education and graduated from Washington High School in Bonham, Texas. Received his BS degree in Biology from Prairie View A&M and also pursued a MS at Texas A&M University/Corpus Christi. Charles worked as a Math/Science teacher at Haas Middle School for 35 years. He was a caring and devoted teacher. He retired in 2005 from CCISD.
A Time for Love
Charles was a devoted husband for 48 years to his wife, Doris and a nurturing parent to two sons, Marc and Brian.
A Time for Fun and Enjoyment
Sports played a strong role in Charles’ early days and in the life of his sons and grandsons, namely, football, softball (Hogies) and baseball. He played and coached these sports for several years. The Dallas Cowboys was his favorite sports team. Traveling with his family during summer was sheer joy. This continued until his vision and health failed.
A Time to Die
Charles Elbert Jones entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 12:06 pm surrounded by his loving family. He will be missed greatly!
A Time to Mourn
He leaves to mourn his departure and to cherish his precious memories, his devoted wife, Doris, his two sons, Marc Sr. and Brian (Miyesha), four grandchildren, Marc Jr., Alijah, Bryson and Brileigh, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
