Ann was one of four children, having three siblings James, Caroline and Jane. Ann studied Applied Mathematics at Michigan State University and ultimately earned an Associates of Arts Degree in Applied Arts from University of North Florida. In high school Ann was an exceptional athlete and student. Ann was awarded the B’nai B’rith Award being recognized regionally for her outstanding athletic and academic achievements. Upon graduation from Portage Central High School (Michigan) Ann received the award for “The Most Outstanding Female Athlete”. She excelled in swimming having competed at a national level, in tennis serving as captain playing the number one singles spot, in varsity volleyball and varsity golf.
Ann spent over 30 years in El Dorado County California. She was immensely grateful for her friends. Those that knew her considered Ann to be kind, warm, gracious and giving. Days after her passing the common words shared by friends and acquaintances were “we had never met a more grateful person”. She truly appreciated the kindnesses from the heart and always made a point to reciprocate. Her gratitude was genuine; she thanked profusely and then would often profess "we are all lucky to have the Lord’s blessings”. Her faith guided her.
Her ultimate joy came from her two sons Antone and Thomas. She was proud of everything they accomplished, always sharing every detail with enthusiasm. Ann was confident that Tony and Tommy would fulfill her dream of furthering their education, maximizing their God given talents, and living fulfilling, generous and productive lives.
Ann is survived by her two sons, Antone Michael Gaschler and Thomas John Gaschler; her sisters Caroline Tortolani and her husband Stephen; Jane Novach and her husband Greg; and her nieces and nephews - Christopher, John and Lucy Tortolani and Oliver Dichtel. Ann is predeceased by her parents Carolyn and Richard Kiehl, and her brother James Richard Kiehl.
