She leaves her daughter, Gloria Grand and partner Jan Laakso; her son, Robert Grand and wife Dolores Grand; her daughter, Teresa (Grand) Kelley and husband, Kevin Kelley; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and many close friends.
Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Robert and Margaret Allegretti, Anita graduated from Foreman High School in 1939 and met her future husband Frank that same year. Frank and Anita were married in 1942 in New Orleans.
In 1950, Frank and Anita moved to the San Gabriel Valley and were long-time residents of Alhambra and South Pasadena. They opened Grand Cleaners in Alhambra in 1951, a part of Alhambra’s business community for more than 60 years. Anita’s strong sense of family, hard work and community service were integral to this strong, vibrant woman.
She was a member and leader of many church and service organizations, including Holy Family Parish/South Pasadena, All Souls Parish/Alhambra, United Commercial Travelers, Kiwanis, Republican Women’s Club and more. She had a passion for cooking, travel and needlepoint. Good food and good friends were always nearby.
Anita loved her family. She freely shared her love and experience with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always there for her family and it is hard to imagine a world without her in it.
And finally, Anita married Frank, the love of her life, in 1942 when they were both just 21 years old. They were married for 75 years and were almost never apart. Frank passed away in December 2017, so now Anita rejoins her husband and soulmate for eternity.
