Larry Byars also known as "Grunt" was a well loved man by his family. He led a full life and enjoyed his family and friends. He lived at Rittenhouse Village of Hoover, where he made lots of friends and was well admired by all the residents and employees.
He is survived by 4 sons, Terry Hall, Gerald Ensley, Phillip Hall, and Mitchell Hall. He has 2 granddaughters, Carissa Hall, and McKenna Hall(Verbena). He also had nieces and nephews, Debbie Gibbs, Lou Ann Kidwell, Cathy Beam, Sandra Reeder, all of Texas, Susan Burch of Louisiana, and Fred Byars of Florida. He is also survived by a host of friends and extended family.
Larry worked in Pharmaceutical Sales. He graduated from Abilene Christian University after serving in the Navy during the Korean War. He is preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Marolyn Burrell Byars, Lester and Stella Byars, Frank and Elizabeth Byars, Jim and Lesbia Murff, John and Dorothy McClaran, and Jerry Byars.
Larry was a member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church where he enjoyed singing and meeting new people every time he attended. He was always a snappy dresser, and was known for his fun socks and colorful shirts.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Woodlawn United Methodist church(205-595-3776) where he loved to worship.
Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. at Woodlawn United Methodist Church, 139 54th Street North, Birmingham, Al 35212, with a reception to follow immediately after the service. All are invited to attend.
