Sue was born in Sterling, Colorado to Gerald J Kloberandz & Loretta (Luckey) Kloberdanz. Sue attended Malley Elementary School, Northeast Junior High School and Northglenn High School.
Sue went on to marry her high school sweetheart, Rick and started her family life. Sue did in home daycare for many years before moving to Oklahoma with her husband and children. After 2 years in Oklahoma, Sue and Rick brought their family back to Colorado and Sue eventually ended up working for King Soopers. Sue retired from King Soopers in 2009.
After retiring, Sue and her sister started a quilting and embroidery business and began volunteering with the Quilts of Valor Foundation. Sue volunteered with Quilts of Valor from 2015 until 2018, during which time she had a hand in completing over 175 quilts for veterans and active service members. Sue also became an active member in her local police department by attending the Citizen’s Academy and later joining the Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association of Northglenn (C.P.A.A.A.N). After joining C.P.A.A.A.N., Sue began volunteering at the Northglenn Police Department in the Police Records section. During her time with the police department, Sue logged over 440 hours of volunteer time. Sue was presented with the Volunteer of the Year award in 2016 for her dedication to the police department.
Sue and her husband raised two children. While raising a family, Sue spent a great deal of time doing everyday things with her kids and attending their sporting events, concerts and recitals. After her kids grew and blessed her with grandchildren, Sue continued to stay actively involved in their lives and attend their events.
Sue was a gentle soul who listened with her heart, withheld judgement and was quick to forgive. The one lesson she wanted everyone to learn more than anything in life was the importance of family. For Sue, family was everything. Sue’s definition of family extended far beyond those related by blood. Anyone who needed a place to belong quickly became part of her core family.
Sue had a love for the outdoors and grew up spending a lot of time in the mountains hiking, camping and fishing. Later in life she discovered her love for the ocean. She and Rick took many trips to Florida where Sue found her passion for sunny beaches and a walk in the sand.
Sue will be greatly missed by her husband of 42 years, Rick May; her children: Christopher May; Jennifer Carley and her husband Eric; her grandchildren: Sabastian May; Jessy Carley; Sabrina May; Megan Carley; her siblings: Pat Kloberanz and his fiancé Mary Mueller; Mike Kloberdanz and his wife Debbi; Dan Kloberdanz and his wife Julie; Rick Kloberdanz and his partner Galan Roach; Kathy Bailey and her husband Paul; Janet Coraggio and her husband Tony. Sue was preceded in death by her father Gerald Kloberdanz.
