Doris Florene McKee was born on September 1, 1933 in Lindsey, Oklahoma to James and Cecil DeWese. She was raised by her mother and step-father Jess Tunnel. She lived in Texas for a few years only to return to Oklahoma and marry Tech Sgt. Willard Lee Street who was serving in the Air Force in Altus, OK. Doris and Willard would eventually move to France where he was stationed and then return to the U.S. to reside in Abilene, TX, San Bernardino, CA then back to Oklahoma where they would make Choctaw their home.
Doris is preceded in death by her first husband Willard Lee Street and her late husband Virgil “Mac” McKee, sister Juanita Long, daughter Brenda Street, grandson Jessie Beene, and great grandchildren Wyatt and Dalton Ables and Aiden and Oliver Zimmerman.
She is survived by daughter Camelia Drake of Childress, TX, daughter Sue Wolfe of Meeker, OK and son Willard “Buddy” Street and wife Lorie of Oklahoma City. Grandchildren Angelia Drake, Brandy Ables, Cammie Drake, Mendy Hanson, Amy Beene, Nathan Beene, Kelsey Street and Joshua Street, 5 great grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren.
Doris was a mother and housewife for several years while her children were at home and while Willard was deployed to Vietnam. She would later begin her career at Western Electric, later AT&T, where she would eventually retire. Doris enjoyed gardening, cooking for family and friends and spending time with both. After retirement, she would begin piano lessons. Along with learning to play the piano, she would make a dear friend Eula May. Doris was blessed to have friends in her prayer group at church and was warmed by their friendship.
