Louise was born in 1948 and raised in Oneonta. She was in the Class of 1967 at Oneonta High School.
In the late 70s early 80s, Louise was employed with Brandofky’s Florist and Mohican Flowers where she learned she had a green thumb and flair for flower arranging. For the majority of her years she worked at Bassett Hospital, first in medical records and then in the purchasing department where she worked her way up to assistant buyer. In her later years, she was employed at The Hanford Mills Museum in East Meredith and was also an in-home caregiver to a few local families who were fortunate to have her compassionate care.
She was a hard worker and one of the strongest women many of us have ever known. She always had to stay busy. Every spring she enjoyed picking fiddle-head ferns or digging for leeks so she could preserve them, planting her gladiolas impatients, geraniums and marigolds, and tending to her renowned numerous hanging baskets that the depot was admired for year after year.
Christmas was her favorite time of year. She would spend all year shopping for that one special day when it was essential that all family gathered. Many years she would open her heart and home to at least one friend to share gift exchange and dinner with our family. She insisted, “no one should be alone on Christmas.” She had the most giving heart and made everything she touched special, not just during the holidays, but each and every day.
Second to Christmas and family, her most favorite things were music, dancing and friends. She wanted to leave this world with a bang and she did just that at her celebration of life party on May 12, 2018, where 70 plus friends and family gathered for music, food, drinks, dancing, and singing with Louise. It was an amazing day that she reminisced about so often during her last days. She had a zest for life and a beautiful smile that will be missed by all who loved her.
Louise is survived by her husband Keith; her daughter Kim White and son in law Jonathan; her son Chad Lyons and daughter in law Annette; her daughter Emily Storey; her granddaughter Jenna Card and her fiancé, Sandra Garcia; her grandson Dakota Lyons and Terri Ingalls; her grandchildren, Shaylynn and Aighdan Weishar, and Gabby and Jillian Warner; her buddy and brother in law, David Evans; her nephew George Roe and his fiancé Melissa Holliday and their son, Dalton; and our dear friend, Barbara Jean Govern who was holding her hand as she took her last breaths (and to whom we are beyond grateful for).
Louise’s memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at 2 pm at her home in Davenport Center, where a tree will be planted in her honor and memory. All who knew and loved Weezy are invited to attend. Our dear friend, Pastor Paul Messner will officiate the service. Food will be served at the home immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, a dish to pass would be greatly appreciated.
