Veronica Adrian Beasley went home to be with her Lord and all her loved ones that were waiting for her on July 24, 2018. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 38 years, Rev. (Major Charles R. Beasley, Pastor of Evans Presbyterian Church for 20 years and part of the “Greatest Generation”, and her brother-in law, Johny W. Beasley.
Veronica was born in Rock Island, Illinois, January 20, 1923, to the late Ada Florence and Glen Hougton Adrian. She lived in Georgia for the past 75 years. She was educated in Savannah Schools and held a certificate to teach in Georgia schools and as an instructor on cosmetology and related fields. She was a homemaker and active in several family businesses, to include Southern Barber College for 50 years.
She is survived by one beloved sister, Mildred Adrian Neill, of Miami, FL; three much loved step- children, Melba Beasley Cravey, Billy Sherman Beasley and Marnel Beasley; many step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a much loved special niece, Mildred Davis; special nephews, Charles Henry, Michael and Timothy Oerman; a very special friend, Mary Lowery and her son Matt Lowery; and many other family and friends.
Veronica was a member of the Evans Presbyterian Church and taught the Adult Sunday school class for many years. She was involved in many organizations. She was past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Raymond O. Barton Chapter of the 4th Infantry Division, and Vice- President of the Ladies Auxiliary Purple Heart Association.
Veronica’s special interests were writing, painting and traveling. She was well traveled over our country, including South America and the Islands. Veronica was an avid reader of history and a genealogy buff. She volunteered for many community- worthy causes.
We thank the many people who have enriched her life over the last years. She loved them one and all.
The family will receive friends 6 PM until 8 PM, Friday, July 27, 2018 at the Columbia Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 12 PM Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Elliott Sons. Bill Beasley, Mike Oerman, Tim Oerman, Chuck Oerman and Skip Davis will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park.
