Was taken gracefully home to the Lord Jesus on Monday July 30, 2018.
Preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edmond and Gotthard; sisters, Elsie, Selma (Sally) and Meta; beloved husband of 60 years, Lowell; and granddaughter, Rianna Elizabeth Welsh.
Survived by children; son, Charles (Jane); daughters, Gail (Lonnie) Bliven and Karen (David) Welsh; grandchildren, Jennifer, Heather (Adam), Bethany, Brian (Megan), Kelly Michael, Devin, and Jonovan; great-grandchildren, Grace, Evan, Benjamin, Logan, Raya, and Harper; many loving and devoted nieces and nephews.
Arvilla received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota. At the age of 95, she was still helping to run Nelco the family business. Arvilla had a deep love and appreciation of the arts. She loved to paint in her favorite watercolors and was a true artist in all mediums.
She was the anchor and the foundation of the family and extended family, she created, nurtured and held dear the family traditions and memories of the Deutschlander and Nelson families.
She was a leader in volunteerism and deeply felt the call to serve from Sunday School Superintendent to Brownies and Girl Scouts, Community Outreach to first generation immigrants, and deeply committed to political involvement.
Visitation with friends and family on Friday, August 3rd at Wulff Woodbury Funeral Home, 2195 Woodlane Drive from 5 to 8 pm and on Saturday, August 4th one hour prior to the service to remember and celebrate Arvilla’s life at 11am at St. John Lutheran Church, 1975 St. John’s Drive in Woodbury. Lunch immediately following service, after lunch interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
