Kimberly Burkhart Roessler gained her angel wings on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at the young age of 61 years in Louisville, Ky. Kim passed peacefully in her home with her beloved dog, Bailey, by her side.
Kim was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky and touched the lives of many in the community with her spunk and wit. She graduated from Murray State with her undergraduate degree in early childhood and elementary education. She went on to get her master’s degree in further education from University of Louisville and her special education degree from Bellarmine University. She was a special education teacher in the JCPS school district for many years and touched the lives of hundreds of at-risk children. She taught them how to maximize their educational, emotional and confidence potential before taking early retirement due to her progressive diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis.
Kim was married to former spouse Mike Roessler, whom they had a daughter together, Allison (Roessler) Pitman. Allison was the light of Kim’s life along with her furry four-legged companion, Bailey, whom never left her side.
Kim will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Allison (Luke) Pitman, sisters Suzy (Fred) Morhmann, Pati (Pat) Blandford and former spouse Mike Roessler. Kim will also be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews and their children Ian (Amanda, Sylvia, Stella) Morhmann, Shawn (Kaitlyn, Judy), Brittney (Adam, Aila), Courtney (Tim) Minor, and Adam Blandford. Kim joins her loving parents Murl and Gerry Burkhart in heaven to watch over us from above.
Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone she interacted with. Share your stories of remembrance on Saturday, August 4th. The visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with the funeral service to directly follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Funeral Home, 4623 Preston Hwy. A luncheon to celebration Kim’s life will be held at Sanctuary Church at 930 Mary St. directly after the services. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Kim to the Kentucky-Southeast Indiana Chapter of the National MS Society.
