Born December 16, 1919 in Reading, she was daughter of the late Edward and Sarah (Carl) Fromm. She was a 1937 Reading High School graduate and was the Executive Secretary for the former Western Electric, AT&T for 25 years before retiring in 1978. Fern volunteered her time for 20 years at the Hospital Thrift Shop. She was a member of the Pioneers and a member of the former Green Valley Country Club where she enjoyed dancing.
She enjoyed bowling and gardening. She was very active in her church, Wyomissing Church of the Brethren where she would quilt blankets for church sales and change the flowers in the sanctuary.
Fern is survived by a son, Scott F. Burtner of Sinking Spring; daughter-in-law Patricia "Patty" Burtner of Reading and niece Amanda Rossi of Colorado Springs, CO.
Fern was preceded in death by first husband, Richard H. Burtner; her daughter, Laraine K. (Burtner) Rossi; her second husband, Ewing Wagner and her brother, Spencer Fromm.
A funeral service for Fern will be held Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 11:00 AM in Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Rd, Reading, PA 19606. Burial will be at 12:00 PM in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reading, PA.
