Our beloved father, Karl Cornn, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on July 31, 2018. Dad was born in Creussen, Germany on February 22, 1948 and immigrated to the United States as a young boy. In 1967 he was drafted into the military and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. Dad was the recipient of many medals for his sound judgement, initiative, and devotion to duty. His many recognitions include receiving a Purple Heart, The Bronze Star Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was honored to serve with the 508th Infantry and the 82nd Airborne Division. Our Dad was also part of an elite group of soldiers known as Green Berets; this was a symbol of excellence, a badge of courage, and a mark of distinction in the fight for freedom.
Not only will he be remembered for his love of country but also for the undeniable love he had for his two daughters. His memory will live on in us and his life and sacrifice will never be forgotten. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Francis and Berta Cornn and his step-grandson Christopher Powers. Survivors include his daughters Lisa (Troy) Godwin and Sarah Cornn, stepson Chris Powers, and three grandchildren, Alexis Cornn and Clayton and Landon Godwin.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
Services held at Kastor-Maxon & Futrell Funeral Home on Dyer followed by graveside service at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
