Lucy "Luz" (Casarez) Garcia

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors with Deacon Jessie C. Garza officiating. Interment will follow in Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Friday, August 3rd at the funeral home.

Mrs. Garcia was born on March 23, 1935 in Coolidge, Texas to Romolo and Catherine (Martinez) Casarez. She was a devoted daughter, mother, granny and friend to all she met. Lucy worked as a custodian for Waco ISD and retired from McLennan Community College. She loved Tejano music and going dancing but her true love was her family. Mrs. Garcia was preceded in death by her parents, sons; Jimmy, Tommy and Ricky, brother; Dennis (Nicho) Casarez and sisters; Guadalupe (Lupe) Casarez Olinger and Belen (Billie) Casarez DeShaw.

Survivors include her daughters; Linda Marquez and her husband, Lorenzo of Waco and Florence Galloway and her husband, Raymond of Galveston, grandchildren; Basilio Marquez, Leticia Marquez, Monica Morgan and John Raymond Galloway and his wife, Wendy, great granddaughters; Tamia Morgan, Aniah Morgan and Leah Morgan, 6 grand dogs, brothers; Vince (Tony) Casarez and Porfirio (Pete) Casarez, sisters; Mary Casarez Tagle and her husband, Raymond, Dominga Casarez Johnson and Della Hernandez.

The family gives a special Thanks to Maria Gutierrez and Mary Jane Bridnes for helping take care of our mom and being her friend throughout the years.
